Training Basics

Training in track and field is not just about building strength, and speed but most importantly, discipline. With that being said it does not mean that the other 2 I mentioned are not important because with out those you won’t improve.

A typical training (depends on your event) most commonly will include some running drills, stretching, and then technique work. Even though like I mentioned it varies for your specific event, they all have at least one thing in common and that is that there needs to be regular practice, good recovery and then mentally all athletes are extremely strong.

The main goal for training will be to look at the bigger picture, and if you are a beginner you should not expect to be the “best” with in a few months of training. Track and field is the sport where the best athletes have been training for years for just there specific event and they have all the right mindset, skills and muscles to perform at such high levels. Over a period of time of training you will start to feel stronger and get more comfortable with the event you have chosen.
